Song of the Week 3#

This week I’d like to present Katy Perry’s current hit single, “Hot ‘N’ Cold” (= Hot and Cold).

With its catchy melody and its upbeat tempo, there is no surprise why this song is on every music chart.  ‘Hot and cold’ is an expression to describe when someone treats you in an inconsistant way (ภาษาไทยคงแปลได้ว่า “เดี๋ยวดี เดี๋ยวร้าย”).  For example, one day he is sweet to you and says he loves you but the next day, he treats you badly and says he doesn’t care.

The video is funny, too.  You see, the 80’s is back!

The priest: Katy, do you take Alexander to be your lawful wedded husband?

Katy: I do.

The priest: Alexander, do you take Katy to be your lawful wedded wife?

Alexander: …

You change your mind like a girl changes __________
yeah you,  PMS like a bitch, i would know
and you overthink, always _________ cryptically
i should know that you’re not good for me

[Chorus]
’cause you’re hot then you’re cold

you’re yes then you’re no
you’re in then you’re _________
you’re up and you’re down
you’re wrong when it’s right
it’s black and it’s white
we fight, we _________
we kiss, we make up

you don’t really want to stay (no)
but you don’t really want to get out (no)

[repeat Chorus]

we used to be
just like ________
so in sync
the same energy
now is a ________
battery
used to laugh
about nothing
now you’re plain
__________
i should know
that you’re not
gonna change

[repeat Chorus]

someone
call the doctor
got a case of the
love bi-polar
stuck on a
roller coaster
cant get off
this ride

[repeat 1st Verse]

[repeat Chorus]

The priest: Alexander, do you?

Alexander: I do.
